Although already up and running for almost a year, still blocked in China and not so well known to the general public, 2.000.000 new installs during the first week of February is such an impressive number that it is difficult to go unnoticed.
There are already those who predict that this is the next day for social media. If this prediction is exaggerated, time will tell. However, what is certain is that this is an application that is gaining more friends by the day and is the talk of the industry as we speak.
Clubhouse is a voice-based (no image) social media app, which you can access for free but only at the invitation of someone who is already a member. Also, it is currently only available for iOS devices and is not accessible via android or web.
In Clubhouse people discuss predetermined topics or whatever is on their mind in «rooms» controlled by moderators. As Washington Post, put it «ιt can feel like a mixture of TEDx talks and conversational podcasts, with the disorder of a heated community meeting and the cringe factor of a call-in radio show thrown in».
This is for now. Participation and support by figures like Elon MusK and Mark Zuckerberg may help skyrocket the popularity of this different platform that maybe is here to stay!
